Can heavier people also use the composting toilet for the garden?
Of course, our composting toilets such as the OGO Origin, Nature's Head and ATY Prime are designed for a weight of up to 150kg. This means that people who are a little taller and heavier can use the dry toilet in their garden without any problems.
Does a composting toilet produce an unpleasant odour?
Composting toilets work according to the separation and drying principle, which is why unpleasant odours are prevented. When the toilet is used, the urine is separated from the faeces using a separator insert and collected in the container provided. After separation, the solid excrement is immediately covered with litter by operating the agitator, which prevents gases from escaping and thus odours from developing. The litter in combination with the fan also ensures rapid drying in the solids container. As long as the faeces are dry, there is no unpleasant odour.
Can I also buy a composting toilet privately, say for the garden?
Of course, composting toilets can be purchased for the motorhome, camper or garden. As they do not require water or a connection to the sewage system, they can be installed anywhere without any problems. You just need to make sure that there is a power connection for the fan so that the faeces can be dried properly. As dry toilets do not require any chemicals, the faeces can be processed into compost and thus into humus fertiliser after emptying. This has valuable nutrients that are perfect for the cycle of nature and can be used in your own garden.

Can a composting toilet be installed in any garden?
In a nutshell: Yes, composting toilets can be placed anywhere, including in the garden. As they do not contain any chemicals and the waste does not have to be disposed of separately, they can be used as a toilet facility in the garden or garden shed without any problems.
Why buy a composting toilet including toilet house as a garden toilet?
Composting toilets are particularly suitable for the garden as they do not need to be connected to the sewerage system. They are operated without water or chemicals, so you can put the used substrate, which contains valuable nutrients, in the compost for composting and then use it as fertiliser in your own garden.
Where does the electricity for the composting toilet in the garden come from?
Composting toilets can be connected to the mains or the socket at home. There is an extra 230V power supply unit for this purpose, which is designed for the respective model. If you place the toilet in the garden, the power supply must be installed outside so that it is always guaranteed.
Can toilet paper be thrown into a composting toilet?
Yes, toilet paper can be disposed of in composting toilets. However, you must ensure that it has a maximum of two layers. The built-in agitator in the composting toilet must be able to tear the paper, otherwise it could wrap around the crank and impair its functionality. You should also bear in mind that the faeces container increases in volume more quickly, which can shorten its reach. You should avoid composting on your own compost in the garden, as toilet paper often contains bleach.
How often does the composting toilet need to be emptied?
Depending on the model and how many litres the collection container for faeces has, the garden toilet must be emptied differently often. Composting toilets are generally designed for long-term use, which is why they only need to be emptied infrequently. This makes them ideal as a toilet system in the garden shed. Our OGO Origin, for example, has a 13 litre solids container and lasts for approx. 2-3 weeks, which corresponds to 20 - 30 visits to the toilet. Only then does the composting toilet need to be emptied and refilled with litter. If the composting toilet has a larger container for solid waste, such as our Nature's Head with 26 litres, you can assume a range of 4-6 weeks or 60-80 uses. The information always refers to 2 people with separate disposal of the toilet paper. Regardless of how many litres it can hold, the urine container should be emptied after three days at the latest, as otherwise unpleasant odours could develop. After emptying, the faeces can be disposed of in compost, and the urine can be diluted with water and used as a valuable fertiliser in your own garden. This supports the natural cycle.
What are the dimensions of ToMTuR composting toilets?
Composting toilets differ in their intended use and therefore also in their dimensions, as not every size is suitable for every vehicle or garden. If you opt for a composting toilet that you want to install in your garden shed without a connection to the sewerage system, you should pay attention to the prescribed room width so that the toilet system can be operated without any problems. The largest composting toilet that we offer, which also composts and is ideal for the garden or garden shed, is the Nature's Head. In addition to this, we also offer the OGO Origin and ATY Prime. These composting toilets are also ideal for this area of application.
How does the composting toilet work?
Composting toilets transform human waste into valuable compost or humus fertiliser. This works by separating urine and faeces. The two excretions are collected in a separate container. Before the compost loo can be used, litter must be added to the solid waste container. After going to the toilet, the agitator inside the container must be activated. This transports the substrate over the faeces, covering them and thus preventing odours from forming. At the same time, covering with the help of the built-in fan ensures constant drying and thus absolute freedom from odours.
How does a composting toilet separate liquid and solid waste?
Like all composting toilets, composting toilets separate faeces from urine using a separator insert. This built-in separator insert ensures that the two components are discharged into the designated containers while the toilet is in use. The special feature of our OGO Origin and Nature's Head is that the separator flap not only serves as a privacy screen, but also has a double base. This ensures that the urine is always drained forwards into the urine canister as long as the flap is closed. This prevents liquids from mixing with the faeces in the solids container and these excretions from becoming too moist.
